What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence is a real problem to over 30,000 families in New Hampshire every year. It can take several forms.

Physical Abuse: includes slapping, pushing, punching, and the use of weapons.

Verbal or Emotional Abuse: is the use of words to break a person's spirit. A person's self-esteem is ruined. Examples are isolation, threats of physical abuse, humiliation in front of family/friends or destruction of personal property and/or pets.

Sexual Abuse: can include marital rape, incest, forcing unwanted sexual acts, and/or any physical abuse directed at sexual parts of the body.
